EQUINE DENTISTRY

The importance of proper dental care for horses has moved to the forefront of the equine industry in recent years.  There have been improvements in equipment to help correct problems in the horse’s mouth and increased recognition of dental problems.

Proper dental care is very important for the health and well being of your horse.  There are several possible complications of poor dental health, these include: weight loss, head shaking, facial pain, reluctance to eat, poor response to the bit, head tossing or bit chewing, reluctance to perform maneuvers, oral ulcers, colic, choke, diarrhea, and difficulty grabbing or chewing food.

PowerFloat

We have been using the PowerFloat equipment for a number of years and have been very pleased with the results. This equipment has greatly improved our ability to help horses with dental disease and those in need of routine maintenance.

Benefits:

Efficiency: The small size of the tungsten carbide grinding wheel and stationary guard permit easy access to all areas of the mouth.

Safety: Less stressful for the horse since this improved and gentle procedure virtually eliminates trauma to the cheek and gums.

Meets all the needs: hooks, waves and ramps can be reduced in seconds. Incisor bite alignment adjustments, too.
